“This buckle is an understated rectangle of steel. The natural patina on it is just beautiful. It’s handmade in Brooklyn, and it’s very specific to New York. Although if I ever move away, I’ll use it for a credit card.” — Travis Commeau (owner, buckle #34)
This cool belt buckle is made from a rectangle of steel that pairs a blackened steel backplate with a hot-rolled steel front plate beautifully riveted into place. Lined in rich red felt, the buckle nestles a MetroCard or any subway & bus pass, and is designed with a notch for easy access at the turnstile
Designed by Patrick Quinn and hand-produced by TMRnyc, this buckle has been featured on New York Daily News, Gothamist, ReadyMade, Etsy, Fashion Noteworthy, Fashion Makes Me Horny, Scooby Snacks, and I Walk Faster Than You.
It has also made appearances on Channel 12 News and was live and direct on the PIX 11 Morning Show.
Buckles develop a sheen from daily wear — making them unique to each owner. Each of these handmade belt buckles in this limited edition release is signed by the artist, numbered, and dated.
With the sweet new packaging, the RetroCard Belt Buckle makes a perfect gift for the guy who has everything.
